Traded Stars

There’s a few things I want to mention today, first off… that’s the end everybody! I want to thank you all for reading and I hope you’ve enjoyed the story thus far. I’ve updated the website a little bit in response to where we are in the story now, and possibly before I come back with the next story I’ll have a new design all together. Hopefully you come back to and check it out, and I’ll make sure to let the world know (via tumblr, twitter and facebook) when I’m coming back/ what form this comic will take next.

Up next is a reminder to everyone I’ll be at Fan Expo in Toronto on August 23-26, sharing a table with the always lovely Rachel Idzerda. We hope to see all of you there. Come by, say hi, buy a thing or two, who knows, and what exactly I’ll be selling at Fan Expo is the last thing I want to mention…

So last but not least, Traded Stars Book One is now for SALE! We’re nearing the finish line now! This arc comes to a close August 10th and it’s been an enjoyable and consuming project thus far.

When this story is finished I’ll be taking a short break from making comics to focus on some more illustration work. Making comics is a labour intensive process so it’s nice to take a break and get back into more singular imagery.

A lot of artists I know keep a sketchbook, and I’ve never been that kind of person… I feel like creating comics are my version of a sketchbook, so I don’t think it’ll be long before I’m back. And I have a lot of interesting ideas of where to take this site next, I’d love to share some of those ideas with you but I think I’ll hold onto them for now until I have something a little more solid to share.

I know I’ve been quiet on the blog front recently, between finishing school and trying to keep a bunch of plates spinning at once this summer, so I’ve neglected updating. Well over the next few weeks you’ll hear more from me regularly. Promise! I have a lot to share that I’ll save for later.

Now about the ‘Latest Page’ button (or lack thereof), I’m camping all week so I won’t be around to update, but each page will be up at midnight on Tuesday/ Wednesday and Thursday/ Friday. I drew them ahead of time so there won’t be any lag in the comic this week.

As you may have noticed, there was no new page today, and last week’s pages were updating increasingly late. I apologize, I was hoping to bring you the story straight through, but have decided to take a break this week for this tiny thing I’m doing which I like to call graduating. If you’re in the GTA you can find me this week in Toronto, more specifically Thursday from 7-12pm at 99 Sudbury Street for the 2012 Illustration Grad Show. You can read a short article about it on The National Post.

I’m really excited for both the grad show (where I will be presenting artwork alongside a group of very talented individuals), as well as what’s coming up in the comic next. The fifth day for our character’s is a very exciting day and if I can’t contain all the consequences to it in day six, this arc may get a little longer. I had an idea to keep this arc to six days in our character’s lives, but the more I consider it, the more the story needs an extra day to unfold.

I hope you all enjoy reading the next part as much as I enjoy creating it. I also hope to see all of you back here next Monday as we continue this adventure and I start my life in ‘the real world.’
